Location: Driving along the highway from Nicosia to Limassol take the exit to Ayia Fyla. Drive straight for 7 kilometers (through Ayia Fyla, Palodhia), pass Esso gas station on your left, exits to Paramytha and Spitali on the right and then on the left you will see a sign with a deer crossing – turn to the off-road on your right (there is a blue sign saying Villa Koukoufytrotripa). Follow the track, drive through the houses on the left, then right, and then on the top of the hill will be the Dog Spot.

The Dog Spot was set-up by a dog loving couple who lives in the countryside outside Limassol. Next to their house (a.k.a. The Dog Spot) there is a big vast area and unpaved country road, which is not a special designated “dog area” as such, but is safe for the off-leash walks with your dog due to the friendly neighbors and little traffic. The place is in the mountains, so you can also enjoy clean and cool air as well as beautiful scenery.
We got ourselves on the little “road trip” to The Dog Spot after finding the information on their Facebook page. What we expected to see was an area with the roads and paths for the lengthy walks with our dog, other dogs for Buddy to socialize and a place for us to sit down and enjoy some refreshments. When we actually got there, we were greeted by the owner and assured that we were welcome to take our Buddy for the off-leash walk anywhere we see, but we didn't see any other dog owners around nor did find a place to sit down.
We were not sure which path to take, so ended up just wondering around in a small field. It was on the mountains, so we would either reach the road for the cars or a slope – it didn't seem as if there was enough space for a long walk (it is quite tiring as you have to go uphill). Buddy had a blast anyway – not only because he could finally get out of the car and run freely, but also because the area was full of carobs, he ate way to many of those and had a sick stomach for a few days after.
We would not recommend to go there during the hunting season as it can be quite unpleasant for both you and your dog. Even though there are signs that hunting is prohibited in the area, you can hear hunters shooting as if they are just few meters away from you (so, as if they are shooting at you...).
